Visiting a church for the first time can be nerve racking. Having an idea of what to expect can be helpful. There are three main parts to all of our Sunday gatherings: worship, preaching, and kids.
Worship:
You could describe our time of worship in three ways: rock and roll, loud, and most importantly for and about Jesus. God has blessed our church with a lot of talented musicians who love Jesus serve our church by using their gifts to lead us with great, fresh songs. Although entertaining, our music is not for entertainment. Our music is part of the way in which we prepare our heart and minds to hear and respond to the word of God. Worship is not only music and singing. In that heart we take communion together and give offerings to support God’s work at DRC. The atmosphere os casual, reflective, and open to anyone who would like to be involved.
Preaching:
While you may hear things that will help you be a better person, have a better marriage, or be more fulfilled, but that’s not really the point. Without Jesus none of that matters. At DRC we preach Jesus. We preach through the Bible because the Bible is about Jesus. Often we will go through books of the Bible, verse by verse, so you can see what the Bible teaches and how it relates to Jesus. It is because of Jesus that we can be better people, have better marriages and be more fulfilled. We preach Jesus from the Bible because we believe that faith comes by hearing the word of God, the Bible. All of our sermons are online and free. Feel free to check them out.
Kids:
Our goal at DRC is to help parents raise children who love Jesus. Our singular concept is pretty simple: Jesus is the hero of the story! Each Sunday your children will learn the Bible and how it relates to Jesus in an age appropriate way. The lessons are fun and approachable and taught by committed volunteers and staff who serve Jesus by serving you and your kids. Ultimately, our goal is to get kids excited about Jesus and to get families talking about Jesus together throughout the week.
Security is important to us, and we work very hard to ensure that the process of you dropping off and picking up your child is completely secure and accountable. After admitting your child to class, you can grab a cup of coffee and a bagel and head into the auditorium for worship…our older kids are encouraged to come into the worship time that precedes the preaching, and will be dismissed just before the sermon begins. Once dismissed your child will do some activities initially, gather with other kids to sing songs to Jesus, and then work through the lessons for the day. After the sermon is preached, we encourage parents to pick up their kids, bring them into service, take Communion as a family, and worship Jesus together.
