The Desire of God for His people…oneness (John 17:22-23)
The Example of Jesus (John 13:2-5 cf. v15/ Phil 2:5-8)
Jesus served out of the reality of who He was and what He possessed from the Father…
We too are free to know that we may serve and give of ourselves from the never ending, never depleting truth of who we are in Jesus and what we have through Him
Who am I and What do I have in Jesus?
I am Accepted…
I am God’s child.
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, (John 1:12)
I am a friend of Jesus Christ.
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. (John 15:15)
I have been justified.
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)
I am united with the Lord, and I am one with Him in spirit.
But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. (1 Corinthians 6:17)
I am a member of Christ’s body.
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. (1 Corinthians 12:27)
I have been chosen by God and adopted as His child.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight (Ephesians 1:3-8)
I have been redeemed and forgiven of all my sins.
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13-14)
I am complete in Christ.
For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. (Colossians 2:9-10)
I have direct access to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ.
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:14-16)
I am Secure…
I am free from condemnation.
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)
I am assured that God works for my good in all circumstances.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
I am free from any condemnation brought against me and I cannot be separated from the love of God.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:31-39)
I have been established, anointed and sealed by God.
And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. (2 Corinthians 1:21-22)
I am with Christ in God.
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4)
I am confident that God will complete the good work He started in me.
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (Philippians 1:6)
I am a citizen of heaven.
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, (Philippians 3:20)
I have not been given a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7)
I have Significance…
I have been chosen and appointed to bear fruit.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (John 15:16)
I am God’s temple.
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16)
I am a minister of reconciliation for God.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)
I am seated with Jesus Christ in the heavenly realm.
Even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. By grace you have been saved and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Ephesians 2:5-6)
I am God’s workmanship.
For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)
I may approach God with freedom and confidence.
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3:12)
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
I can do everything through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)
